Mick Pickersgill
Mick Pickersgill joined BSTMS in 1995 as Senior Consultant after a career in senior management. Mick's career in consultancy and training began when he became director of a development centre based at Oxford University. Mick and his team advised on the various aspects of management strategy and development.
He was subsequently involved with many National initiatives including the Speaker's Commission on Citizenship Consultative Conference, a Met. Police working group, various working parties at the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce and Channel Four's working party on Religious Broadcasting.
Mick has worked with many clients in the UK, Europe and US including JPMorgan, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, Standard Bank, Lloyds of London, Markel International, Sedgwicks, Oxford University Press, Penguin Books, Hertz International and Carphone Warehouse (GIS).
Mick now trains people at all levels of management. "If I can make someone's role as a manager a bit easier, or a company more effective, then I'm happy" he says. "Successful companies are the product of successful individuals."
He believes that management skills are readily transferable and feels strongly that an organisation that values the management of people will outlive and outperform the competition. He champions the cause of empowerment at every level of management and believes in the management of performance through competencies.
Mick has an MA in Management and was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for his work with them. Mick is a Freeman of the Guild of Educators.
